What We Collect
We collect what you give us and what's needed to run the service:
- Account info — email address, username, and display name. If you sign in with GitHub, we receive your GitHub username and email from OAuth.
- Session data — when you upload via the CLI, we store the session content you send: conversation transcripts, file diffs, metadata, skill tags, and AI-generated commentary.
- Challenge responses — if you respond to a challenge, your submission is stored and visible to the challenge creator.
- Server logs — standard request logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps) for security and debugging. These are not tied to your account and are rotated regularly.
What We Don't Collect
- We do not use tracking pixels, third-party analytics, or advertising cookies.
- We do not sell or share your data with third parties for marketing.
- The CLI captures session data locally on your machine. Nothing is sent until you explicitly upload.
How We Use Your Data
- To display your portfolio and uploaded sessions to visitors.
- To authenticate you and manage your account.
- To generate AI-enhanced commentary on your sessions. For heyi.am, AI enhancement runs locally using your own API key. For howdoyouvibe, AI analysis is processed server-side via Google's Gemini API. Session data is not shared externally beyond this.
Cookies
The public portfolio site (heyi.am) does not use cookies. Authentication cookies are only set on the app domain (heyiam.com) when you log in.
Data Retention
Your uploaded sessions are stored as long as your account is active. Deleted sessions are removed from public access and purged from our database. If you delete your account, all associated data is removed.
Third-Party Services
- GitHub OAuth — used for sign-in. We receive your email and username. See GitHub's privacy statement.
- Google Fonts — fonts are loaded from Google's CDN. See Google's privacy policy.
Your Rights
You can access, export, or delete your data at any time through your account settings. If you have questions or requests regarding your data, contact us.
